Our Pillars

Innovation

At Nexus Zanzibar, we harnessing the power of innovation to directly improve social outcomes and foster a truly digitally inclusive society.

We strategically introduce, implement, and support scalable digital solutions designed to enhance the efficiency. This includes establishing essential digital infrastructure, deploying sector-specific technologies such as e-health or ed-tech platforms, and running comprehensive digital literacy training tailored for all segments of the population.

We deploy targeted interventions, including establishing community technology hubs, providing access to affordable digital tools, and running specialized training in digital literacy and practical tech skills.

By closing the digital divide and ensuring that technology serves as an accessible tool for everyone, we enable greater transparency, improve access to vital information and services, and ultimately accelerate socio-economic progress across Zanzibar.

Capacity Building

Capacity Building is the central, defining pillar of Nexus Zanzibar's intervention strategy, designed to ensure the sustainable success of digital health across the islands.

Our comprehensive framework focuses on creating a proficient through two mutually reinforcing streams. First, pre-service integrates practical skills in simulated setup to prepare them for transition to service. Second, in-service training provides tailored short courses and mentorship for current workforce, enabling them to rapidly upskill in specific areas vital to service delivery.

Crucially, we foster local self-reliance through a Trainee-of-Trainers (ToT) model, where we intensively mentor and empower academic faculty. This prepares them to fully lead and eventually institutionalize the training into their curriculum, guaranteeing the long-term continuation and evolution of high-quality training programs well beyond our initial project phase.

Community engagement is a foundational pillar for Nexus Zanzibar, ensuring that our interventions are relevant, accepted, and sustainably used at the grassroots level.

Our approach recognizes that the success of large-scale interventions hinges on its adoption by the citizens they serve. We conduct continuous feedback sessions and participatory workshops within local communities to understand barriers to technology use and tailor our capacity building and training materials accordingly.

By embedding technology within the existing social fabric and empowering community leaders, we ensure that our interventions are a a bottom-up process that genuinely improves  access to service delivery and improved social outcomes for all Zanzibaris.
